About the Founder

Tyler Mitten started the journey into the field of arboriculture after graduating from Eastern Kentucky University in 2016. Working for a private tree care company in Columbus, Ohio, Tyler quickly ascended the company ladder. After starting as a groundsperson with no experience in the industry, Tyler took to the trees as a climbing arborist. This position came naturally, having been a collegiate rock climber at Eastern Kentucky University.

While working as a climbing arborist, Tyler began leading crews on job sites, taking on leadership responsibilities as a crew foreman while also studying for the International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist Test, which he passed in  February 2020. Continuing production work as a climbing arborist, Tyler started researching and learning more about the scientific aspects of arboriculture through peers, articles, and industry conferences.

After spending six years in production arboriculture, Tyler shifted into consultant work- meeting with clients and discussing problems with their trees. Here he gained a greater understanding of the common (and not-so-common) issues that can arise within Ohio's trees. Tyler also became branch manager of the same company he set out with seven years prior.

In 2024, Tyler set out to compile his knowledge of arboriculture into more industry certifications. Firstly, becoming Tree Risk Assessment Qualified (TRAQ) through the ISA, followed by becoming an ISA Board Certified Master Arborist. Tyler continues to study for the Registered Consulting Arborist course offered by the American Society of Consulting Arborists as well as Tree and Plant Appraisal Qualification.

OTAC was formed from Tyler's passion for preserving large, mature trees. Too often trees are deemed unfit for a specific location or condemned for aesthetic reasons. Let OTAC help you get to know your trees from a new perspective!

When not in the trees, Tyler enjoys life as an active member of his church, spending time as an avid outdoorsman, and getting quality time with friends and family.
